Liverpool officials have made a new decision regarding the departure of French defender Ibrahima Konaté during the current summer transfer window, amid interest from several clubs.

Real Madrid is considered the most prominent club interested in signing Ibrahima Konaté, either this summer or next when his contract with the English club expires, allowing him to join on a free transfer.

Ibrahima Konaté's contract with Liverpool runs until the end of the 2025-2026 season. After that, he will be free to join any other club for free, unless his contract is renewed or he is sold before its expiration.

Liverpool's Stance on Selling Konaté

According to the English newspaper "Mirror", Liverpool has decided to continue negotiations with Konaté to renew his contract, while refusing to sell him in the current summer transfer window.

The newspaper indicated that Liverpool is close to signing two defenders: Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace and Giovanni Leone from Parma, explaining that the arrival of these two players does not mean abandoning Konaté.

The newspaper added that Liverpool officials consider Konaté an integral part of the club's project, and therefore they will not let him go for free and will move to negotiate with him and offer a new contract.

What are Liverpool's Summer Transfers?

During the current summer transfer window, Liverpool signed Dutch right-back Jeremy Frimpong and German midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and French striker Hugo Ekitiké from Frankfurt.
