The list of the departed reveals big surprises within Manchester United
Manchester United has officially announced the list of players who will leave the team at the end of the 2025-2026 season, as part of the changes that the club is preparing to make before the start of the new season.
The list of those departing included a number of prominent names, led by Englishman Jadon Sancho, Brazilian Casemiro and Dutchman Terrell Malasia, along with Sonny Allegoffre, James Bailey and Malachy Sharp.
Sancho leaves Manchester United after a journey that began in the summer of 2017. 2021, when he joined the team from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million. During his time with the club, he participated in 83 matches in various competitions, during which he scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists, before spending loan periods with Borussia Dortmund, then Chelsea and Aston Villa. As the end of his contract approached this June, the management decided not to move forward with renewing its association with the player.
The curtain also came down on Casemiro’s career with Manchester United after four seasons he spent at Old Trafford since his transfer from Real Madrid in 2022, where he was one of the main pillars of the team during that period. The Brazilian midfielder participated in more than 150 matches, and contributed to the club winning the English League Cup and the FA Cup, before officially bidding farewell to the fans at the end of the season.
As for Malasia, he leaves the team after four years that witnessed promising beginnings in a Manchester United shirt, but a series of injuries, most notably a severe knee injury, greatly affected his career and kept him out of the field for long periods.
In a related context, Manchester United affirmed its commitment to supporting young players. Those leaving the club’s academy, by helping them find new destinations to continue their football career, in addition to providing support and follow-up programs during the next stage.
This step comes within the restructuring plan that the club is working on in preparation for the new season, as the management seeks to build a more competitive team capable of returning strongly to the podium in the coming years.
