Real Madrid narrowly wins and continues chasing Barcelona

Real Madrid secured a dramatic late victory over Rayo Vallecano with a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu, in Round 22 of La Liga.

With this result, Los Blancos moved up to 53 points in second place, just one point behind Barcelona, while Rayo Vallecano remain on 22 points in 17th position.

Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring in the 15th minute after receiving a pass from Brahim Díaz, dribbling past the defense and firing a powerful shot into the net.

Rayo Vallecano equalized early in the second half through Jorge de Frutos in the 49th minute, following a well-delivered cross from Álvaro García.

The match intensified late on, with Thibaut Courtois producing a crucial save, before Rayo’s Siss was sent off for a foul on Dani Ceballos. After several missed chances, Kylian Mbappé converted a penalty in stoppage time (90+5) to seal the win, while Pep Chavarría was also sent off after an altercation with Rodrygo.
