Iker Casillas, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper, criticized the Royal Club for its continuous attacks against referees in light of the errors it has faced in its previous La Liga matches.

Real Madrid began its La Liga campaign with victories over Osasuna, then Real Oviedo, then Mallorca, and finally Real Sociedad, to clinch the top spot in La Liga with 12 points.

Real Madrid does not seem satisfied with the refereeing performance, after the recent red card received by the team's defender, Dani Carvajal, in the match against Real Sociedad, which prompted the club to decide to complain to the Spanish Football Federation to FIFA.

Casillas: We must let the referees do their job

Casillas said, in statements highlighted by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”: “There will be controversy every time a Real Madrid player is sent off, but in the end, we must let the referees do their job; because they are under a lot of pressure, and what benefits you today may harm you tomorrow.”

He added: “Real Madrid is in a good situation, having won 4 matches in La Liga, which gives you a great boost, and I hope the team stays this way in the Champions League, which is the team's favorite competition.”

He continued, speaking about Xabi Alonso, the coach of Real Madrid: “Xabi Alonso is a very intelligent person, and this helps him a lot off the pitch. He can make the most of all the players he relies on.”

Regarding Vinícius Júnior, he said: “Vinícius Júnior is a very important player for Real Madrid, you find him decisive and influential, to the point that he doesn't realize it himself. He is an amazing player, and I trust Alonso's ability to help him bring out more of his potential.”

Regarding the Ballon d'Or, he said: “It must go to the one who deserves it. I think Dembélé and Vitinha are among the candidates, given what they have done with Paris Saint-Germain. As for Lamine Yamal, he won the Euros with his national team and La Liga with Barcelona, but what distinguishes a player is winning the Champions League.”

He continued: “Lamine is an excellent player and will be crucial for Spanish football. Even if he doesn't win the Ballon d'Or this year, he will win it next year.”
