Valverde said in television interviews after the match: "I'm not sure about my injury, I don't know if it's a muscular problem or just a movement that caused me pain, I don't know, we'll see later. The doctors told me it's fatigue and they'll conduct tests tomorrow or the day after."
The Real Madrid player added: "We came to Anfield to try and win, and we know that playing here is very difficult and they press a lot. We had chances, but we lost three points due to a set-piece; we have to defend better."
He continued: "We knew Liverpool were strong in set-pieces, but we have to be stronger, defend better, with more spirit and desire, and avoid conceding goals."
He added: "In the first half, we had more control. They had some chances, and we were comfortable moving the ball from side to side. Perhaps what we lacked was penetrating their box more when attacking. We were a bit cautious because of their counter-attacks. Anyway, we have to keep improving."
He concluded his speech by saying: "We wanted to win. It's always nice to win here as we did before; it was special, but today we lost. I thank the fans who attended despite this weather. We have to keep growing and improving. It's a harsh blow because we were on a good run, but the most important thing is to stay strong and move forward, as we did after the Atletico Madrid match."
