Amorim Announces Three Manchester United Players Will Miss Manchester City Match
Manchester United coach Rúben Amorim announced that three of his players will be absent from the important match against Manchester City, which will pit the two teams against each other in the English Premier League 2025/2026 season.
Manchester City will play against Manchester United next Sunday, September 14th, in the fourth round of the English Premier League, at the Etihad Stadium.
Amorim also sent a special message to André Onana, the team's Cameroonian goalkeeper, following his departure during the current summer transfer window on loan to Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Manchester United to be without Konaté, Mount, and Dalot against Manchester City
Amorim said in statements reported by the British network “Sky Sports”: “Konaté, Dalot, and Mount are out for the Manchester City match, and I don't know how long it will take. We need these players to be a competitive team. We have very excellent players who are eager to play.”
He continued: “The duration of the players' absence? I don't want to say. If I speak with Konaté, he will say he is capable of playing the match. They are making great efforts for the team.”
He added: Onana's departure? We could have considered keeping him, but I believe that we, as a club, understood his need for a change. Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint the reason; performance, timing, and bad luck in some situations – we were too harsh on him. We were considering a change, but I wish him the best. He was excellent at his work and helping his teammates.”
Amorim concluded his statements by saying: “Manchester City is a top-class team led by the best coach in the league. They are a team whose performance is hard to imagine, but we are ready and we trust our team. It will be a great match, and we know what we need to do, we have trained better, and the current league standings do not matter.”
