Final Decision Regarding the Saudi Arabia vs UAE Match in the Arab Cup
The organizing authorities have finalized their decision to cancel the match between the Saudi Arabia and UAE national teams in the Arab Cup, officially withdrawing from continuing the game due to bad weather conditions.
The decision to cancel came after the match was halted at the end of the first half due to heavy rainfall that made it unsafe to continue playing.
The newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" reported that the Chilean referee Cristian Garay officially decided to cancel the match after assessing the condition of the field and deeming it unfit.
The coach of the UAE national team, Cosmin Olăroiu, along with Hervé Renard, the coach of the Saudi national team, refused to continue the match out of concern for the players' safety.
The match, held at Khalifa International Stadium as part of the third-place playoff in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, was halted with the score tied at 0-0.
The first half saw a goal for the Saudi national team canceled in the 19th minute, scored by Salem Al-Dawsari, after the referee ruled it offside.
It is worth noting that the UAE national team was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals after losing to Morocco 3-0. Meanwhile, the Saudi national team also exited at the same stage following a 1-0 defeat to Jordan.
