Egyptian Omar Marmoush, a Manchester City player, revealed the identity of the toughest defender he has faced since joining the Premier League, confirming that a defender from Chelsea was the most difficult for him so far.

Marmoush had moved to the Citizens in January last year from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £65 million.

Omar Marmoush has become one of the team's most prominent signings, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in just 19 matches, showcasing his great speed and skill.

Marmoush's Statements About the Toughest Defender He Faced

Despite his individual brilliance, Manchester City had a disappointing season after failing to win any titles. They were eliminated early from the Champions League and the Club World Cup, in addition to losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, where Marmoush missed a crucial penalty.

Regarding the biggest challenges he faced in the Premier League during his first nine months, Marmoush said in press statements: "I have played against great defenders like Virgil van Dijk, William Saliba, and Marc Guéhi."

He continued: "The toughest opponent I have faced so far was Reece James. It was my first match in the Premier League against Chelsea. He confused me with his speed, strength, and skills."

Marmoush played his first match with Manchester City against Chelsea last January, playing on the left wing in a direct encounter with James.

Although the Blues' captain succeeded in limiting the Egyptian player's threat for most of the match, City managed to turn the score around and win 3-1 thanks to goals from Gvardiol, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden.
