Guardiola talks about his future after losing the Premier League
The Spanish Pep Guardiola, the coach of the Manchester City F.C. team, appeared in press statements following the 1-1 draw against AFC Bournemouth, in the 37th round of the Premier League, in a confrontation held at the Vitality Stadium.
Guardiola spoke about losing the English Premier League title to Arsenal F.C., stressing that the match was difficult as expected, noting that his team lost part of the energy due to the pressure of the matches and physical fatigue during the period. The Spanish coach explained that Bournemouth had a longer preparation period before the match, reaching 12 days, in addition to having attacking elements playing with high energy, while Manchester City played a match only three days before, with travel and constant stress.
He added that his team played a good second half, and succeeded in creating some dangerous chances, most notably Nico O’Reilly’s chance, in addition to the goal scored by Erling Haaland that was disallowed due to offside, stressing that Video technology was supposed to review the shot more clearly.
Guardiola indicated that the team was then unable to impose the desired impact offensively, despite scoring the equalizer in the last minutes, considering that time was not enough to fully return the result.
The Manchester City coach stressed that the players gave everything they had throughout the season, and fought until the last moments despite the difficult circumstances, stressing that the team was very close to preserving the title.
He also made sure to congratulate Arsenal. And his coach Mikel Arteta and the entire technical staff after winning the English Premier League, stressing that they deserved the title after the great work they did throughout the season.
At the end of his statements, Guardiola spoke about his future with Manchester City, explaining that his contract has one year remaining, but he prefers not to talk about any decisions regarding his future before sitting with the club’s management and its president, stressing at the same time his great happiness working within Manchester City, which he described as an exceptional club.
