A long-term project.. Petkovic is close to staying until 2028
The Algerian Football Federation is moving towards finalizing its agreement with coach Vladimir Petkovic to extend his contract until 2028, in a move that reflects a clear desire to maintain technical stability and continue the current project for the national team.
According to reports, the new contract will have a different character, as it will include a set of specific goals that the coach is expected to achieve during the coming period, foremost of which is leading the “Desert Warriors” to the second round of the World Cup finals. 2026, which reflects great ambitions to bring the team back to the global forefront.
The agreement also includes a condition of reaching the semi-finals of the next African Cup of Nations as a minimum, in light of the aspirations of the Algerian fans to restore the luster of the continental team and compete strongly for the title.
The contract also includes an explicit clause allowing the agreement to be annulled by mutual consent between the two parties in the event that the agreed upon goals are not achieved, in a step aimed at linking continuity to the results, and ensuring the highest levels of technical commitment during the next stage.
