Federico Valverde completed a remarkable hat-trick in the 42nd minute, finishing a brilliant attacking move to give Real Madrid a comfortable 3–0 lead before halftime.
In the second half, Manchester City attempted to respond, but Madrid’s defense remained solid. Meanwhile, Vinícius Júnior missed a penalty in the 57th minute that could have extended the lead.
