Reports revealed on Sunday that Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has been handed a two-match suspension after receiving another yellow card during his team’s match against Newcastle United.

Manchester City had secured a 3–1 victory over Newcastle United in their Round of 16 clash in the FA Cup.

According to Manchester Evening News, Guardiola received his sixth booking of the competition during the match, which automatically triggers a two-game suspension under the tournament’s regulations.

The report added that the suspension will not apply to the final of the EFL Cup, where Manchester City are set to face Arsenal.

As a result, Guardiola will miss Manchester City's upcoming match against West Ham United in the Premier League, as well as their FA Cup quarter-final tie.

The Spanish manager had strongly protested the referee’s decision during the second half after a foul was not awarded for his player Jérémy Doku.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola said:
"I’ll take a bit of a holiday during the games when I’m not allowed to sit on the bench."

He added:
"It was a clear foul on Jérémy Doku. I didn’t ask for a yellow card, but it was definitely a foul, and of course I will defend my team."
