Arsenal revive the painful memories of past seasons… Is the collapse scenario about to begin again?
Hours after the final whistle, the 2-2 draw between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal F.C. continues to echo strongly, following their rescheduled Matchday 31 clash in the Premier League.
Arsenal made a strong start, with Bukayo Saka opening the scoring in the 5th minute with a precise header. The Gunners then extended their lead in the 55th minute through Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié, seemingly placing the visitors in a comfortable position.
However, Wolves responded in the 61st minute through Hugo Pino to reduce the deficit and keep the contest alive. Deep into stoppage time, Arsenal suffered a major blow when Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori scored an own goal, allowing the hosts to snatch a valuable point.
With this result, Arsenal moved to 58 points at the top of the table. Yet the gap is now under greater threat, as Manchester City F.C. have edged closer, reigniting fears of recent seasons in which Arsenal came close to the title but faltered in the decisive stages.
As for Wolves, despite the morale-boosting draw, they remain at the bottom of the standings, with their battle for survival still wide open.
