After a shocking setback… Paris turns the tables ahead of the second leg.
Paris Saint-Germain staged a dramatic comeback to defeat AS Monaco 3-2 at Stade Louis II in the first leg of the playoff round for a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Monaco made a flying start, with Folarin Balogun opening the scoring in the 2nd minute before doubling the lead in the 18th minute, putting the visitors under early pressure.
Paris had a golden chance to respond, but Vitinha missed a penalty in the 22nd minute. The comeback began in the 29th minute when Désiré Doué, who came on for the injured Ousmane Dembélé, pulled one back. Achraf Hakimi then equalized in the 41st minute to complete the first-half turnaround.
Monaco’s situation worsened early in the second half when Aleksandr Golovin was sent off in the 47th minute. Taking advantage of the numerical superiority, Paris Saint-Germain sealed the comeback through Doué’s second goal in the 67th minute.
The two sides will meet again on Wednesday, February 25 at Parc des Princes to decide who advances to the Champions League Round of 16.
