Manchester United refuse to fall and snatch a valuable point in stoppage time
Manchester United secured a dramatic and valuable 1-1 draw away at West Ham United in Round 26 of the Premier League, in a match played at the London Stadium.
With this result, Manchester United raised their tally to 45 points in fourth place, while West Ham United remained on 24 points in 18th position.
The first half saw clear dominance from Manchester United in terms of possession and control, but their superiority failed to produce real chances, as West Ham relied on a compact defensive setup and closed down spaces effectively.
At the start of the second half, West Ham took the lead in the 50th minute when Jarrod Bowen delivered a cross from the right side, met by Tomas Soucek who finished comfortably into the net.
Manchester United attempted to respond by increasing pressure and maintaining possession, but a lack of attacking sharpness prevented them from creating clear scoring opportunities.
Casemiro had an equalizer ruled out for offside in the 63rd minute, while West Ham missed a dangerous chance through Wilson. Joshua Zirkzee came close to scoring late on, but his header went just wide in stoppage time.
In the 95th minute, Manchester United finally found the equalizer as Bryan Mbeumo’s cross was brilliantly converted by Benjamin Šeško, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
